The Guide

The Guide

Soap with foam and bubbles forms a question mark shape, symbolizing skincare curiosity.

Designed to answer common questions with clarity.

About Our Soaps

A1. What is soap?

Today, the term ‘soap’ refers to a specific type of chemical compound: the salt of a fatty acid. Soap is created through a natural process called saponification, which occurs when oils or fats are carefully combined with lye. For more details, consult From Lye to Luxury: How Science Shapes Every Bar .

A2. What is the difference between synthetic detergents and natural soap?

Synthetic detergents are industrially produced through heavy and complex chemical processes. While they may function as effective cleansers and are engineered to have a pH close to that of human skin, their lower production cost and convenience have made them widely used.

A3. How is Soap Therapy different from other natural soap?

At Soap Therapy, our soaps stand apart through three key qualities. Every ingredient is organic, supporting healthy skin and a sustainable environment. We use premium oils, with olive oil as the most abundant, and all are extra virgin, providing gentle cleansing as well as natural nourishment from their unsaponifiables. Each bar is carefully cured for at least two months, producing a harder, gentler, and longer-lasting bar.

Ingredients & Soap Making Principles

I1. What are the ingredients of every bar?

At Soap Therapy, every bar is crafted from a balanced blend of organic, extra virgin oils: olive, coconut, shea, and castor; and transformed with lye, which is fully consumed in the process. We add citric acid to bind minerals in hard water, preventing soap scum. Each soap is thoughtfully designed to serve a purpose and deliver a unique experience, enriched with organic botanicals and essential oils. Full ingredient lists are available on our shop page.

I2. What is cold-process soap?

At Soap Therapy, we use the cold-process technique: gentle saponification without excessive heat, preserving the natural compounds in our organic ingredients that nourish your skin. This method reflects our luxury principle: a return to simplicity, and thoughtful craftsmanship.

I3. What is curing and why does it matter?

Curing allows a soap bar to complete saponification, harden, develop its crystalline structure, and stabilize. Extended curing draws out additional moisture, enhancing the bar’s performance, benefits, and longevity.

Using and Caring for Your soap

U1. How long does one bar typically last?

Soap Therapy bars are designed for longevity, though proper use helps maximize their life. We offer two sizes: Practice (80 g) and Ritual (160 g). A Ritual bar typically lasts between four weeks and two months, depending on how often and how it is used.

U2. What should I do to maximize the life of my soap bar?

We recommend resting your soap on a breathable surface, such as a coconut hair soap rest, to allow excess moisture to drain. Keep the bar away from direct water flow when not in use, rinse it with cold water after each use, and store it in a low-humidity environment.

U3. How often should I experience Soap Therapy?

At Soap Therapy, we suggest three to four mindful experiences per week rather than daily use, especially if you have dry skin, allowing your skin to fully replenish its natural oils. This rhythm provides extended longevity to your bar, but more importantly a balanced approach to cleansing, nourishing, and maintaining a healthy skin barrier.

U4. Can I use Soap Therapy on my face?

Soap Therapy bars are suitable for use on the entire body and are crafted with natural, organic ingredients for all skin types. We encourage you to review each bar’s ingredient list to ensure there are no personal sensitivities. Each bar is designed with a specific purpose, and if you’re unsure which is best for you, we are happy to provide a tailored recommendation.
